According to an ancient times, it is said that the first man was made by Jupiter, the first bull by Neptune, and the first house by Minerva.
On finishing the work , an argument had arisen as to which had made the most perfect work.
They appointed Momus as the judge so that he would take the right decision, and they also agreed to put up with his decision. Momus, however, being very jealous of the work of the each, found fault with all.
He first blamed to the work of Neptune because he had not made the horns of the bull below his eyes, so he might better see where to strike.
He then blamed the work of Jupiter, because he had not placed the heart of man on the outside, that everyone might read the thoughts of the evil willing and take protection against the planned mischief.
And, lastly, he blamed Minerva because she had not fixed iron wheels in the foundation of her house, so its people might more easily remove if a neighbor proved disagreeable.
Jupiter,
being angry at such faultfinding fellow, drove
him out from his office of judge, and ban him
from the hall of Olympus.
